Post Raya

I better blog before some people complain! *hint*nadia*cough*hint*



So, I got back from my much-needed leave on Tues. Obviously, it's a sad day for me
coz... I got accustomed to not going to work? ;p



So how did Raya go this year?



The eve of Raya proves to be different from the previous years. Well, what can I say,
a lot of things this year is different from previous years! Apart from the I did not bake,
I did not buy new stuffs for myself for Raya, I practically did not prepare anything for Raya,
I have no mood at all for Raya - there were some other notably differences.

For starters, the house was 80% ready by eve of Raya! Usually, my siblings and I will argue
with my mum on when we should start doing the final touches in preparation for Raya.
She will always tell ask to start early, and we will always insist on starting on the eve of Raya!
Why the stubborn-ness? We were born like that and tak ley disalahkan since my parents
are the Universe most stubborn couple!

We actually have a very good reason for it. We wanna feel the Raya spirit! And we want
our house to look extra special on Raya, and not like look damn nice and clean for Raya.
Our house always look damn nice and clean due to my Mum's anal-ness over everything!
And that's why our house always look vavavoom kababoom every Raya though the langsir is
already almost 1o years old! (I can't believe I endured putting up the langsir for that long!)
It's the special Raya spirit!

That, plus, you know how many people lives under that roof. The number of kids in that
house and the how the kids refuse to help to clean. So if we prepare early, chances are the
whole place is ruined, the beautifying efforts gone down the drain. So we try to delay as much
as possible. We usually end up hanging the curtains after 2am in the morn! (Trust me I ever
hang the curtains up at 4.45am one Raya, ALONE!!!!! Along merajuk and Diyana, well... what
can I say about that girl, she went to Bazar Geylang!!!! It took all of me not to murder
everyone in the house!)

Bt this year was different. Along is not in the loop and me cldn't care less which resulted in
Diyana cldn't be bothered anyway. So we didn't due to ritual yearly argument and kept
quiet when Kambing did the job. Bt she is smart enough to not do it too early. She started on
Monday so by Tuesday, almost everything was done. Except the Langsir. That is like my
Official Duty. Ok, only the renda2 tingy lah. The easy part Kambing did oready.

So... we decided that Malam Raya should be spent by watching all the good shows on TV
after the Takbir. Since everything is almost done, we thought Mum wldn't start her
yearly bebel too early. Then Suhaimi came with Aini of coz and we watched Wujud 2.
Mum was doing her yearly, "Malam raya bukan nak duduk bertakbir mengaji tgk TV eh!"
while taking out a carpet to shampoo. Of all the time, she had to do it that night.

This clever girl (red-moi) thought that to lessen the impact of her bebelan, I should volunteer.
Sacrifice myself for others heh? So I started scrubbing the carpet and thinking ,
"What did Cinderella sing while scrubbing the floors in the movie?" (ok FYI, I know the
song now because... that'll be another post b4 I digress further!) Before I knew it, she dragged
2 more carpets for me to scrub. It was okay, bt I got choked by the shampoo and started coughing and almost vomitting (like Ryan always do) and felt breathless. Let's do a minor recap everybody: I am still unwell remember. My livers and lungs still needs that extra protection and care till the 9mths are over. Which will be in... hmm.... May 2009. So Mum asked me to stop while she continued. I insisted on continuing coz tak samapai hati nk tgk Ibuku berbongkok dan susah payah memberus carpet (walaupun tinggal satu je carpet kecik). Bt halfway through
that, I really cldn't take it anymore and so I stop to get the inhaler. I mean, I am no drama queen and dying on Raya is sooooo drama mama and no way am I going to do that!

Bt I discovered another difference when I stepped into the kitchen! The Raya cooking is done!
Without any hussle and tussle and masam2 muka and membebel2! SPLENDID!!!

So by then, I already knew that the house is prepared for Raya - except for the langsir renda part and Ayah kept bugging me to put them up a.s.a.p. Finally did it after 1am and by that time I already ter-doze off after palying Sudoku and I had no mood at all to climb and pasang that thing! So I told Aini to do it. Of coz nobody ever know how that thing works so I told her I prepare everything and she just need to listen and follow my instructions. With sleepy eyes, I did a couple of blunders by mixing the 2 different set together. Nasib baik Aini tk mengamuk. ;p
In the end, I ended up climbing and pasang also since ada some part Aini cldn't manage and Diyana helped us lah. Amira jgn ckp lah - si budak tu 24 jam ngan handphone kat tangan. Satu hari aku potong gak tangan and telinga dier and then tape kan mulut dier supaya tak ley bergantung lagi! We were done ard 2.30 am? Padan muka eh!

The Raya itself was another surprise, surprise when Mum didn't bebel! We waited for Ryan and parents to come over and they reached like 2plus! Ayah didn't even ngamuk coz he usually is impatient! Well, anything for Tonet kan??? Oh! Ayah even gave Tonet Duit Raya! With a message on the envelope! It goes " Untuk Cucu Kesayangan Ryan Iskandar. Dari Tok Tan"

Unfair treatment!!!!!

So we went to the 2 VIP houses. As usual at Tok Ne's place ada mcm2 org2 yg er... negative. A lot mentioned about my rounded face and even asked if it's botox. Of coz not lah kan! Cuma Vit C and Collagen jer per.... with a touch of RF.... sikit jer tu... *roll eyes*

Thurs was spent by accompanying a friend to a clinic then a quick lunch and then home coz Nadia decided to cancel our date to watch a movie and then melayan tetamu (cousin2 Ibu and anak2 sedara ku sampai and oh Nadia was there too) and Fri was suppose to be spend by going out with Nadia bt she came over to watch Wujud 2 first and then we ended up slacking at home with Make-Up 101.

Sat and Sun biasalah jalan Raya kan and I got to carry that cute boy around. So the manja... I tink he got used to my bau (nice smelling kan..) and he got used to the Nabi2 song I always sing for him to make him go sleep when he was a newborn. I had to sing the song repeatedly like a broken record (literally after a gazillion repeats!) and tepuk2 dier. Penat tp satisfying!

Mon was spent by accompanying Natasha send her car to Bukit Timah (Turf Club) then went to Woodlands, caught a movie, look for TVs and had dinner. Seperti biasalah sempat gak kiter gosip2 kan...

Tues is back at work bt after work I met up with my 2 dearies for dinner. So while waiting for Yani, I went around to look for TVs again. What to do, my Dad just dropped a bombshell on Sun evening asking me to buy 2 TVs for the house. You saw that right - not One bt TWO!!! Aku ni kan cap duit. Dan sebagai anak yang baik hati dan tak sampai hati utk mengatakan Tidak aku pun gi lah cari2 TV. Sebabnyer??? Memamg ada niat di hati utk menggantikan TV in Dec sbb dpt bonus kan. Dan kerana si Mel (Diyana) finally dh kerja, konon2 share cost lah. Tapi Ayah kata, "Kin besok beli TV 2!". I told you he's an impatient man. Dia nk on Mon tu jugak! So aku pk maybe beli satu skrg, den lagi satu Dec. Bt I still dunno which one to buy! And given the attitude of the setan2 kat rumah, tkder nafsu aku nk belikan TV! Bkn aku tgk, si setan2 tu yg mengadap bt ada hati nk biadap ngan aku! Hmph! Plus, if I buy the TV now, I can forget about eating grass till November, I think I can't even afford to eat germs!

But I've shortlisted to 3 brands - Samsung, Sony & Sharp. So guys, tell me what you think! Nadia already said, " Kak Ikin, buy all three lah! 2 untuk kat bwh, satu for your rm!" Excellent idea! Bt what's cheaper than germs that I can eat?

Anywho, back to the story. After looking for TVs, I went to look for digital photo frame. Why? Coz my Dad has been complaining about how Ryan's pic is not displayed at home. He wants one arge photo of him nicely framed and displayed. Bt I thought, that kid is so cute, how to choose only one kan. Pakai digital photo frame lah! Bt the price also canggih. $280. Is it worth the money to put Ryan's face in it? To be continued.... (buat suspense kan!)

I also went to look for DVDs. Tgh bebel2 sorang2 sbb tak tau kenapa si budak Nadia tu hilang, I suddenly realise Naza was standing right beside me. I went to look for Nadia to signal to her and she said, Yeah I know! Well, Nadia has a crush on that guy so I told her to say Hi! Bt she wldnt. And now, I'm on talking terms with him! ;p

After that I went to look for shoes. Ok this was accidental. I didn't really wanna look for shoes coz I know I'll get disappointed as I can never get proper ones - or at least one that my feet will be comfortable in. Kaki aku kan bapuk. Bt somehow I ended up spending $48.80 for 2 pairs of shoes! Felt good and guilty at the same time! The shoes fit perfectly when i tried them on BT...
when I used them on Weds, it killed my feet! I am now on permanent plaster therapy!

I just dunno what's wrong with my feet. Apa lagi yang kau nak dari aku?! My feet are like guys you know. Confused and sekejap ok, sekejap tak ok. Irritate and hurt me the next day when it seems like you can be beautiful on me the day I decided to get you. I hate my bapuk feet! Bt at least I have them right. For that, syukur Alhamdulillah..

Oh... I forgot to mention that on Tuesday... or is it on Monday eh...? I received 2 packages. Never mind about one of them. The most exciting package that I was sooo waiting for came from Amazon! (What, you think I only buy from Victoria's Secret meh?) It's my DVDs! My Cinderella DVD and Season 2 The Nanny!!! I'll tell you more about it later!
